National Day of Prayer 2015

The 64th Annual National Day of Prayer is today, Thursday, May 7, 2015. The theme for 2015 is "Lord, Hear Our Cry" emphasizing the need for us, corporately and individually, to place our faith in God's unfailing love and grace.

Dr. Jack Graham, National Day of Prayer Chairman, is Pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Texas. The school my son attends, Prestonwood Christian Academy, is a ministry of this church.

In preparation for today's National Day of Prayer, I received an email from the school, quoted below in bold typeface.
I wanted to share it with you.
It is such a privilege and a blessing to attend this Christian school!

"At this crucial time for our nation, one of the best things we can do is pray.
We need the Lord's healing and renewing power.
Let's gather and lift up our United States, praying in the Spirit in one accord.
We also encourage you to pray with your own family on May 7.
Here is a link to the prayer written by National Day of Prayer Chairman, Dr. Jack Graham that you can pray at home with your family. Follow this link then click on 2015 National Prayer"

"Jesus taught that we "ought always to pray and not lose heart." (Luke 18:1).
Rather than losing heart when we see what is happening in our country and world, let's do something about it.
Let's pray.

Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil.
The battle is won by taking up our armor and getting on our knees and crying out to God who hears our prayers!"

1 Kings 8:28 "Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in Your presence this day.

The "armor" referred to above is from Ephesians 6:10-18:

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God,
so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."

To God be the Glory-- Julie
